Our Services

Specialist arboricultural surveys and reports across the full range of tree management needs. Based in Hampshire, operating UK-wide.

Tree Safety Inspections

Focused, systematic assessments that answer one essential question: are your trees safe?

A tree safety inspection is exactly what it says — a ground-level visual assessment of whether your trees pose a risk to people or property. We work systematically through your site looking for signs of disease, decay, structural weakness, and other hazards that could lead to failure.

Each inspection produces a clear, prioritised report: which trees need attention, what action is recommended, and how urgently. The focus is purely on safety, not general management or aesthetics — making this a cost-effective option for clients who need to demonstrate they are actively managing their duty of care.

A tree safety inspection is also valuable evidence for insurers. Having a professional survey on record shows that you have taken the responsible steps expected of any land or property owner.

Tree Condition Inspections

A comprehensive assessment covering both safety and management — going beyond hazard identification to understand what each tree actually needs.

A tree condition inspection goes further than a safety inspection. In addition to identifying safety hazards, it evaluates the overall condition of each tree — crown health, root zone, signs of pest or disease, and longer-term management requirements — and produces recommendations for what each tree needs and when.

This is the right choice where you want to know not just "is this tree safe?" but "what does this tree need, and how should we be managing it?" Condition inspections are well-suited to pre-construction assessment, post-storm evaluation, or forming the basis of an ongoing management programme.

Like a safety inspection, the resulting report can support insurance compliance — demonstrating that you understand the condition of your trees and are managing them responsibly.

Tree Management Advice

Practical, ongoing arboricultural guidance to help you manage your tree stock proactively and cost-effectively.

Not every tree question requires a formal survey. Sometimes what you need is expert guidance — whether trees need pruning away from buildings, when crown lifting over car parks, access routes, or caravan pitches is appropriate, or how to structure a long-term management programme for your estate.

We offer clear, practical management consultations that give you a picture of what needs doing now, what can wait, and how to get the best long-term value from your trees. Proactive advice helps clients avoid reactive and emergency spending, and keeps tree stocks in good, safe condition over time.

Tree Risk Assessment Surveys

Structured risk evaluations providing clear, defensible documentation for insurance and liability purposes.

A tree risk assessment goes beyond identifying defects — it evaluates the likelihood of failure and the consequences if failure occurs. This structured approach produces a risk rating for each tree and clear management recommendations.

Our assessments follow recognised industry methodologies and produce reports that are suitable for insurers, legal proceedings, and due diligence purposes. They give you a documented audit trail showing you have taken reasonable steps to manage tree risk.

BS5837 Tree Surveys

Surveys in accordance with British Standard 5837, required for most planning applications involving trees.

BS5837:2012 is the British Standard that governs how trees should be considered in relation to design, demolition, and construction. Most planning authorities require a BS5837 survey as part of any planning application where trees are present on or adjacent to the development site — whether that's a garden re-landscaping, a garden office, a home extension, or a large-scale commercial development.

Our surveys produce a full tree schedule, root protection area plans, and a Tree Constraints Plan (TCP). Where trees will be affected by proposed works, we also prepare Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA) and Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS) — the documents that show the planning authority exactly how trees will be protected during construction.

Tree Planting Schemes

Species selection, placement plans, and specifications for new planting that will thrive now and in the future.

Planting the right tree in the right place is a long-term investment. We advise on species selection, planting positions, and ground preparation to give new trees the best possible start and ensure they will remain an asset rather than a future liability.

Species selection is increasingly important in the context of climate change. Many traditionally popular trees — silver birch among them — perform poorly in the drier summers we can now expect, and a tree planted today may be under significant stress within twenty years. We recommend species appropriate for both current and projected future conditions, so your planting scheme continues to deliver long after it is established.

Planting schemes can be prepared for planning conditions, biodiversity net gain, amenity improvements, or private landowner projects. We provide full specifications suitable for contractors to price and carry out.

Tree Planning Advice

Pre-application and post-consent guidance to navigate the planning process with confidence.

Trees and planning intersect in many ways — from Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and Conservation Area requirements, to biodiversity net gain and Section 211 notices. Understanding the rules before you start can save significant time and cost.

We provide plain-language advice on what permissions are needed, what surveys will be required, and how to present your case to the local planning authority. We can also advise on works to protected trees and help you prepare the necessary notifications.

Boundary Tree Disputes

Independent expert reports to cut through the complexity of neighbour and legal disputes involving trees.

Disputes involving trees — whether over overhanging branches, root damage, light obstruction, or ownership — can quickly become complex and contentious. An independent expert report from a qualified arboriculturalist can provide the clear, objective evidence that resolves or settles these matters.

We prepare reports suitable for use in mediation, legal proceedings, and insurance claims, offering an honest assessment of the facts and a clear professional opinion.
